My performance as Little Bo Peep in the high school play was less than memorable. The costume itched and the sheep didn’t show up. There was no standing ovation. I didn’t want to take drama, but I loved debate class and it was only offered in the fall semester. All debate students had to take drama in the spring because the same person taught both classes. Every January Ms. Bresee did her best to turn aspiring attorneys into thespians. Bless her heart. At the time I didn’t connect the dots, but I came to understand how these two classes complimented each other. After all, what good is researching facts if you can’t recall them to confidently and effectively relay them?
In the years that followed I built a successful career in human resource administration using research, evidence/data compilation and persuasive presentations, thanks in part to Ms. Bresee. Surprisingly, I also developed a love for theater arts.
People who care about us, will encourage us to do uncomfortable things to prod us toward success. Can you imagine how much more our heavenly Father wants us to succeed in the plans He has for our lives? Are you being led to do something out of your comfort zone? Trust Him; He isn’t asking for perfection, just effort. Each step of faith you take brings the hosts of heaven forward to cheer you on. Do the hard work, get out of your comfort zone and step into the spotlight of His unending grace. Who knows, the next standing ovation you see might just be for you!
